An Eau Claire man will spend three months in jail for stalking and threatening a former girlfriend.,discount tiffany
Thomas J. French, 47, 105 Gibson St., pleaded guilty Wednesday in Eau Claire County Court to misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property, trespassing and unlawful use of a telephone.
French originally was charged with a felony count of stalking.
Judge Lisa Stark placed French on two years of probation,tiffany bracelets, during which he cannot contact the victim or engage in stalking behavior. He also was ordered to pay $269 in restitution.
French apologized to Stark for his actions. "This was a series of regrettable mistakes," he said.
According to the criminal complaint:
The woman told police she dated French for two weeks in December 2008. Since ending the relationship on Dec. 16, 2008, the woman said she has lived in a state of mental anguish and fear.
The woman changed the locks on her door. She said French twice came to her home after 11 p.m. and pounded on the door. He also pounded on her bedroom window.
The woman said she would receive as many as 50 text messages a day from French. One message said he would "never give up." A second message said he was "capable of murder." He also called her obscene names.
A vehicle the woman was driving was vandalized Dec. 27 and 28,tiffany necklaces, 2008. The woman said she was sure French was responsible for the damage because of his jealousy.
