MOTHERS’ Union members have gathered for an annual celebration service.,tiffany rings
The Durham Diocesan Mothers’ Union Festival Service attracted a packed congregation to Durham Cathedral on Tuesday.
It marked the first annual service for recently appointed diocesan president Jean Carleton, representing the Lanchester deanery,discount tiffany, covering north-west Durham.
Mrs Carleton, from Stanley,tiffany cuff Links, was commissioned at a ceremony overseen by the Bishop of Jarrow, the Right Reverend Mark Bryant, in January.
This year’s first citizen is recently-appointed councillor Mamie Simmons, who is a Mothers’ Union member.
The former headteacher joined the Mothers’ Union as a founder member of the All Saints’ branch, at Newton Hall, Durham, in December 1997.
The Rt Rev Bryant was the preacher at the service, which featured a reaffirmation of the vows taken by members on joining,tiffany bangles, including a promise to uphold the five objects of the Mothers’ Union.
It was followed by a recital of the Mothers’ Union prayer, a blessing by the Bishop, and the recessional hymn as members left the cathedral with their branch banners at the end of the service.
The service also included a collection to be split between the Mothers’ Union Overseas Fund and the work of the cathedral.
