A two-day Christmas tree Tiffany and co festival beginning today is expected to make the holidays a little brighter for area victims of domestic abuse.

The 13th annual Evergreens festival runs today and Tuesday in the main ballroom at the Davis Conference Center, 1651 N. 700 West, Layton.

This year’s theme for the “Evergreens & Christmas Things” tree festival is “Evergreens: Rising Above the Abuse,” said Whitnie Bowden, Davis Conference Center event manager.

Proceeds from a dinner and live auction event Tuesday evening will go to the Safe Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter in Kaysville, said Carlene Kemp, the chairwoman coordinating the event.

Last year, the event grossed $80,000, Kemp said. She said that total was down from the previous year.

But despite the economy, Kemp said, she is hopeful the festival will bangles reach or exceed the figure it grossed last year.

“This is the one big fundraiser Safe Harbor does,” Kemp said.

The cost of the Tuesday dinner is $50 per person, which includes a bid number to allow that individual an opportunity to submit bids in the live auction. The dinner and live auction begins at 6:30 p.m., Kemp said.

Those wanting more information on the dinner and live auction are encouraged to call (801) 444-3191.

Today, the festival — with 23 trees available to be bid-on — will open rings to the public at 4 p.m. There is no cost for attending the preview event, Kemp said, but donations at the door are welcome.

On Tuesday, doors to the festival open at 5 p.m., with a silent auction on some items preceding the dinner and live auction event.

Trees will be delivered on Wednesday to those top bidders.

Some items to be auctioned off during the dinner include an antique rug, a puppy and a trip, Kemp said.

Santa Claus will make an appearance at the festival, and kids’ craft projects bracelets will also be on hand, Bowden said.
