One couple couldn’t wait to get married and tied the knot shortly after midnight on Valentine’s Day gift

Sheryl Landers, 52, and Joe Gonzales, 63, planned the wedding a week ago when they realized they wanted to make their commitment official.

Originally, they were just going to head to the justice of the peace and do the legal deal. Both had been married once before.

Then, the groom heard about a Valentine’s Dance at Club Westerner and thought the idea of having friends and hundreds of dancers at his wedding would be fun. A bunch of their friends had already bought tickets.

About 500 people filled the dance hall that night with the couple knowing almost silver bangles 200.

“I found my perfect partner. I love this woman,” Gonzales, retired, said. “I think she was sent to me for one purpose and one purpose only — to love each other till the day we die.”

The bride, a manager for Coastal Kitchen and Bath, had prayed to God to send her a man that could be her partner. When she saw Joe treating her mom well and picking up all her loose ends, as well as calling her “gorgeous” all the time, she knew she found him.

“He’s one in a million and I got the cream of the crop,” Landers said. “It was a union made by God.”

It’s Christmas at the Commonweal … Christmas tiffany of 1942, that is.

The musical celebration “The 1940s Radio Hour” is the holiday production at the Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro this year. And yes, you read that correctly, the Commonweal, where drama is usually the bill of fare, is staging a musical.

“Actually, the group we have here is a good group in vocal talent,” said Carl Lindberg, who is directing his first show at the Commonweal.

The play is set at a New York radio station and takes place on Dec. 21, 1942. America has now been involved in World War II for more than a year, and as the war pulls more and more people away from their homes, the Christmas season seems more important than ever. That’s especially so for Biff Baker, a young musician who is about to leave for duty with the Army.

The colorful cast of characters also includes the high-anxiety station manager; a young,Tiffany Keys Sinatra-like singer; a classy woman who knows all the standards; and a bevy of young and enthusiastic performers, including Biff’s girlfriend.

“The thing that struck me from the beginning and continues to entertain me is the characters,” Lindberg said. “They’re just delightfully passionate and fun to watch.”

The show includes the traditional Christmas songs “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Jingle Bells,” but is more heavily stocked with songs of the ’40s: “(I’ve Got a Gal in ) Kalamazoo,”"Love is Here to Stay” and “How About You?” among others.

In the cast are Eric Bunge, David Hennessey, Tim Sailer, Stela Burdt, Stan Peal, Troy Iverson, Stef Dickens, Irene ErkenBrack and Sheldon Rogers.

“We’re working toward having some interaction with the audience,” Lindberg said. “We’re hoping we can get someone up dancing.”

Lindberg is a member of the Commonweal’s apprentice class for the current season. He holds silver bangles a master of fine arts in directing from Western Illinois University.

“I’ve been here since May,” he said. “It just happened that Hal (Cropp, Commonweal artistic director) was looking for someone to direct the holiday show. Well, here I am.”

Lindberg said he was not overly worried about directing his first professional production. “I was excited to get started,” he said. “To any degree, if there’s not some sort of nerves, then it’s not worth doing. What we do involves getting in front of people and risking something every time.”

If the title of the show sounds familiar, it’s because the Commonweal staged “The 1940s Radio Hour”silver rings for the 2000 holiday season at its former home next door to the new theater.

WHAT: Cutting & Delivery of the State’s Official Christmas Tree

WHEN: 9:30 a.m. November 16, 2009 and 10:00 a.m. November 17, 2009

California State Capitol Building West Lawn 1400 Tenth St., Sacramento, CA, 95814 11/17/09

SUMMARY: Monday November 16, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. marks the beginning of the holiday season when the states’ official Christmas tree is cut from its home on U.S. Forest Service property in Camino and prepared for transport. Adorning the west lawn of the Capital this year is a majestic, 55-foot white fir tree donated by the U.S. Forest Service Institute of Genetics.

Department of General Services’ employees will raise the festive fir at 10:00 a.m.silver bangles November 17, 2009, following its delivery by CAL FIRE.

Once set up is complete, the tree will be trimmed and bedecked with 1,500 hand-crafted ornaments donated from the Department of Developmental Services. The ornaments are created by children and adults with developmental disabilities who receive services and support from the state’s development centers and 21 nonprofit regional centers.

Continuing Gov. Schwarzenegger’s energy efficiency and conservation initiatives, 14,000 ultra-low-wattage silver rings, light-emitting diode bulbs will illuminate the tree, resulting in a 95 percent energy savings compared to incandescent bulbs. For more information please contact: Sarabjit Jagirdar, Email:- htsyndication@hindustantimes.com.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s U.S. Forest Service unit – Siuslaw National Forest – issued the following press release:

Christmas tree permits will be available November 23 from the Siuslaw National Forest. Permits cost $5.00 each, which allows the permit holder to cut one tree for personal use.

It’s a tradition for some families to seek out their perfect Christmas tree discount tiffany on national forest lands according to Bob Nowak, Contracting Officer for the Siuslaw National Forest.

While the Siuslaw National Forest promotes this activity by selling the annual permits, people need to be aware that finding the perfect tree may not be as easy as in past years.

Most trees on this Forest are fast growing trees which render them less than ideal Christmas trees. In addition, areas with small trees are becoming less available due to fewer young tree plantations and some area closures, including Marys Peak.

Douglas fir and Sitka Spruce are the most common tree species available on the Siuslaw National Forest. Highly sought after Noble firs, and other high elevation “true firs”, are not available.

However, Noble firs and other high elevation “true firs” can be found in the Willamette National Forest, which is also offering Christmas tree permits. The closest location to the Corvallis area to purchase a permit for the Willamette National Forest is at the Sweet Home Ranger District and local vendors in Sweet Home and Foster, OR.

Christmas Tree Permits

Finding a tree may turn into an all day outing, so be prepared. Travel on forest roads during the tiffany earrings winter is unpredictable. It is advisable to let friends or family know where you are headed and when you anticipate returning. Tree cutters should bring a handsaw or axe as well as winter clothing and safety equipment. Tire chains and shovel are recommended, as is extra food, drinking water, blankets, a flashlight, first aid kit, and survival gear.

Before you cut your tree, remember the following common-sense rules: You must take the entire tree; you cannot take the top off of a larger tree. After you cut your tree, you must immediately attach your permit. You cannot later discard the tree for another you find more desirable.

Once you’ve selected your tree, saw or chop it within six inches to the ground and leave no limbs attached to the stump. To keep the tree from drying out, leave it out side until you are ready to put it in a stand, then cut the trunk at an angle and keep it in plenty of water.

For current road and snow conditions, please contact the nearest ranger station where you plan to look for your tree.

Siuslaw National Forest Christmas tree permits are valid only on national forest lands within the silver bangles Siuslaw National Forest.

Permits can be purchased at the following locations:

Hebo Ranger District 31525 Hwy. 22 Hebo, OR 503-392-3161 (Mon-Fri, 8:00-4:00)

Central Coast Ranger District 4480 Hwy 101 Florence, OR 541-902-6946 (Mon-Fri, 8:00-4:00)

(Willamette National Forest) Sweet Home Ranger District 4431 Highway 20 Sweet Home, OR 541-367-5168 (Mon-Fri, 8 – 4:30)

Central Coast Ranger District 1049 SW Pacific Hwy Waldport, OR 541-563-3211 silver rings (Mon-Fri, 8:00-4:00)

Siuslaw Forest Headquarters 4077 Research Way Corvallis, OR 541-750-7000 (Mon-Fri, 8:00 – 4:00)

Tomoya Takahashi, Japan, has developed a retaining tiffany ring.

The patent has been assigned to NHK Spring Co. Ltd., Kanagawa, Japan.

According to an abstract posted by the World Intellectual Property Organization, silver bangles the invention relates to a “retaining ring that can easily hold in a mounted position, attach and detach an outer side member fitted on the outer periphery of an inner side member. The ring is made of an annularly molded wire spring, and has arches protruding outward in the radial direction and arches extending inward in the radial direction in a series of arches in the circumferential direction. The wave-patterned wire spring is disposed in the gap between an inner side member and a tubular outer side member that is fitted to the inner side member, and detachably holds the outer side member to the inner side member by means of the elastic frictional force of the wave-patterned wire spring.”

The invention carries International Patent Publication silver rings No. WO/2009/116615 on Sept. 24.

The news of the W spinoff’s April 2003 launch (as a 75,000-paid- circulation quarterly, tiffany and co with bimonthly plans in 2004) suggested a Town & Country lookalike, as the jewelry/ watch category is key to the 154-year-old Hearst Magazines monthly. “Not at all,” says W vp/ publisher (since August 2000) Alyce Alston. “T&C does an excellent job, but we weren’t thinking of them. Our inspiration came from Italian Vogue Jewelry (bimonthly spinoff of Italian Vogue), which brilliantly serves the consumer and retailer. IVG has some popularity in the U.S., and W Jewelry being English language can build on that. Using lists from Cond Nast, Fairchild, and several jewelers (Tiffany/Tourneau, etc.) we are targeting people who spent $30,000-plus on jewelry during the past year.”

* W Jewelry, like its parent, will be tabloid-size, and, Alston hopes it will start a “launch a year” silver bangles pattern. Looking to the March 2003 “W” (“Spring Preview”): “We’ll close the issue up in ad pages” (versus 284 in March 2002). It will be very strong.” Similar morning-line March optimism comes from Vogue vp/publisher Tom Florio.
