Tiffany & Co. will launch an expansion progam in the United States and open a new store in Europe, it rings announced in London Wednesday by William R. Chaney, chairman, who outlined global growth strategies at an international retail conference.
The first location selected for the new domestic program is South Coast Plaza, Orange County, Calif. The anticipated opening date is October. South Coast Plaza is a unique retail environment featuring the world’s finest luxury stores. It is the first step in a new domestic expansion strategy which calls for opening one new store annually for the next several years.
In addition to its flagship New York store, Tiffany operates retail stores in Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Calif., Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Francisco.
”South Coast Plaza is one of the most distingushed retail addresses in the United States and can be ranked with the finest shopping streets in the world,” Chaney commented. ”It is centered in a very large affluent market which offers a substantial opportunity for Tiffany.”
In Europe, TiFfany announced that Zurich, Switzerland, has been selected as the location of its next store. bracelets are progressing for a store on the fashionable Bahnhofstrasse with the goal of a September opening.
Chaney said, ”We are delighted with the prospect of adDing the prestigious Bahnhofstrasse address to our presence at 25 Old Bond Street in London and Residenzstrasse 11 in Munich. It is part of Tiffany’s international expansion program which is one of our major growth strategies.”

International sales are made through Tiffany boutiques in Mitsukoshi department stores in Japan and the Tiffany cufflinks in London and Munich.
